This restaurant is my family’s go-to for any and all occasions. We celebrated our engagement here, the last date night as a family of two before our daughter arrived, and now when we get the chance for a date night, this is still our favorite place to go! The Marsala Arrosto and Figs Appetizer are impeccable every single time (my absolute favorite dishes). Recently, we enjoyed an appetizer special (pictured here) and it was amazing. I love that this restaurant is constantly changing up the specials. This is a place that makes their food with love and we will be coming here for many more years to come. The food was really salty. 4 Of us were having the same feeling. We asked for tap water, we were still served bottles and charged 8 dollars each. I ordered the special menu of that day, steak, its texture was like rubber band, was hard to be cut by knife, not to mention chewing it. Along with the steak was a bowl of paste, again, super salty ... My wife ordered scallops, that's right, so salty. We came the long way to NJ from PA to meet friends there. It was quite an impressive and expensive experience. 4 Person, 300 dollars. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $50–100 Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2

Today's culinary adventure is Luca's Ristorante in Somerset, NJ. The small family owned bussiness was established in 1994. The family is originally from the Island of Ischia which, is off the coast of Italy. If you didn't know Ischia was one of ancient Greek colonies. Although their menu is authentic Italian with various pasta dishes, fish is their specialty. So you will be in for treat with deciding pasta or fish. First, I want to point out the inviting feeling you get walking through the front door. They can seat about 60 patrons. It's small but, cozy. The restaurant is decorated with ceramic imported tiles, statues, pottery, woods, etc. All which, are imported from the Island of Ischia. You are treated with art while you dine which, makes this a very enjoyable experience. Now, for the food. We arrived at 1PM for lunch. We started with two appetizers. The first was "FICO". It consists of fresh figs, mascarpone, pine nuts, prosciutto, and mango/balsamic pearls. I highly recommend this. Next was their ARANCINI. It combines beef, pork, rice and cheese and served with their tomato sauce. Although small compared to other restaurants it packs a full flavor of the pork and beef. Not so much rice. One entreewas Veal Saltimbocca. The veal was thin and tender dressed with prosciutto, sage, spinach, buffalo mozzarella in a brandy sauce and served with fingerling potatoes. I elected the Veal Parmigiana since it was served with fresh pasta made daily. I had to try their pasta which, was perfectly cooked al dente. Dessert was homemade Creme Brulee and Pistachio Gelato. I am not a dessert person but, had to try it since it was homemade. Side bar, think "Everybody Loves Raymond" episode where the Barones go to Italy and order gelato. It was that good. We had Italian espresso which was the best Italian espresso I ever had. Now, ready for this they have a liquor license and sell red and white wines for those that forget to bring their own. Yes, you can bring your own and no corking fee. We also had a great time to speaking with Luca and Sam. They were professional, courteous and attentive. The portions are large and you will bring some food home. Best to order one appetizer. After 3PM they switch to their dinner menu. The portions are larger and prices reflect it. The dinner menu does include items not found on the lunch menu and have daily specials. This restaurant is located within a strip mall with plenty of parking. This is a restaurant I recommend you try. Oh before I forget they make specialty pizza. We missed out on the pizza with Tiger Figs since it was seasonal
