Your journey in Solasta: Crown of the Magister will lead to lots of loot, including gear pieces and various tomes. Some could be used to create new equipment while others are handed to specific characters to boost your standing. Here’s our guide to help you with crafting primed items and increasing your faction reputation in Solasta: Crown of the Magister.

Crafting basics

In Solasta: Crown of the Magister, you might discover a few scrolls or booklets that you can right-click to read and learn a crafting recipe. Any character can do this, and the recipe will be unlocked for the entire party.

You can start crafting by opening the character screen and clicking on the crafting tab. There, you’ll see the tools and components that are required, as well as the related proficiencies that’ll increase the success rate:

• Herbalism Kit – This allows you to craft potions. Medicine and Arcana knowledge also help.
• Smith’s Tools – This lets you create arrows and bolts.
• Manacalon Rosary – This one is for crafting weapons and armor pieces. Arcana also helps here.
• Poisoner’s Kit – This lets you make vials and arrows/bolts coated in poison. Medicine and Nature proficiencies are compatible with this one.
• Scroll Kit – This allows you to create various scrolls that can be used during exploration and while in combat.

How to get primed items inSolasta

For potions, arrows/bolts, and poisons, all you need are the components/materials. As for scrolls, the character doing this task should have learned the spell beforehand. Lastly, weapons and armor pieces require primed versions.

The primed version of an item in Solasta has a small blue blacksmith/forge icon symbolizing that it’s ready to be used for crafting. You cannot turn a regular item into a primed variant, that’s why I just advised you to sell generic junk that you don’t need. Primed items can only come from lootable sources (i.e., chests or drops) or the Arcaneum faction vendor (Heddlon Surespell) who’s chilling inside the tavern.

If you have all the required materials, you can begin the crafting process which will take a few hours. You can either do a few long rests or travel to another location on the world map. The game will do periodic skill checks to determine the success rate, but you can force a successful outcome by ticking this option in the game settings menu.

Faction reputation and gear

Since I’ve already talked about a faction vendor, you’ll be glad to know that Solasta: Crown of the Magister has four major factions in Caer Cyflen that sell extra stuff:

• Arcaneum – Primed items and spell scrolls.
• Tower of Knowledge – Crafting recipes.
• Circle of Danantar – Magical weapons and armor.
• Antiquarians – Magical accessories (i.e., Bag of Holding).

To increase your reputation with a particular faction, you can give the vendor NPCs certain items that you’ve picked up (i.e., tomes or journals). Alternatively, you can check the notice board at Caer Cyflen’s market square.

The notice board has sidequests given by specific factions. These also reward you with certain loot drops (i.e., magical items, crafting materials, and gold). The sidequests would often have you revisiting a dungeon that you’ve been to before. That’s followed by an encounter and an investigation to claim a quest item.

Scavengers and extra loot

There’s also another faction in Caer Cyflen, the Scavengers. The Scavengers have an entirely different function. Simply put, their members will go to locations that you’ve previously cleared. They’ll pick up random loot that you didn’t grab earlier, or they might find other stuff.

After time has elapsed, you’ll see the wares that they’ve collected. You can either keep these drops or sell them outright for some gold.
